My Favorite Things-Beach Edition

Are you hitting the beach soon?

Check out my favorite things to help make your vacation easy-breezy and fabulous, whether it’s an international adventure or a weekend getaway.

Every item on this list is something I use and love. I don’t receive commissions for purchases or clicks made through this email.

Sneakers. Always travel in sneakers. You will likely need them, even for a beach trip. They take up too much space in a suitcase, and if you must take off your shoes at security, you want socks between you and the airport floor. I favor these Adidas, but my New Balance are a close second these days.

The perfect carry-on. Away’s Carry-on with Pocket Suitcase is roomy enough for a long beach weekend, and the outside pocket makes it easy to get to your electronics and books. I love my Away suitcases and have them in several sizes, but this is my most used.

A cute clutch. It’s ideal for a beach trip and doubles as a passport holder at the airport. This YSL is my current favorite.

A classic beach tote. This St. Barths tote by Naghedi is the perfect balance of elegance and easy beach vibe, and its neoprene fabric is water safe. I’m obsessed.

Beach-friendly sandals. At some point in the last few years, I came to love Birkenstocks. Young me said never, over-40 me says YES. The plastic ones in a fun color are a staple for the beach: waterproof, and a little more solid than flip-flops. You have to admit, they’re adorable.

Organizer bags to keep you sorted. I use these clear pouches by Augbunny (a Fashion Jackson recommendation) for everything. Light and waterproof, they’re also perfect for helping your electronics stay dry at the beach or packing a wet swimsuit for the trip home.

Don’t forget the sunscreen! My favorite for the face is Supergoop. I love their Unseen Sunscreen, which lives up to its name, and Glow, which provides a bit of coverage and hydration so you can ditch your makeup. You are on vacation after all.

A cosmetic bag that works. These bags by Nishel make unpacking and packing a breeze, come in great colors, and hold everything. Their smart design means I can always find the item I’m looking for - perfect when you’re getting ready for dinner after a day in the sun. Grateful to one of my favorite influencers, Grace Atwood, for recommending them.

Travel medication. I travel with antibiotics and a Scopolamine patch for motion sickness. If you think you may need travel medication for your destination, take a look at Runway. And if you use this code, they will waive the consultation fee: DEBTRAVELS30.

Beach reads. It always makes sense to travel with a book, several if you’re going to the beach! I just finished The Secret Book of Flora Lea by Patti Callahan Henry. It was so good!
